This past weekend at the Grand Finals of the North American Star League, it was announced that the popular RTS game Heroes of Newerth would be a promotional title for Season 2 of the league. HoN is one of the largest growing competitive titles and is featured at major gaming events such as Dreamhack. The league’s inclusion of HoN next season will mean a great deal for its expansion into the North American market. Currently, most of the top teams in the HoN world such as FnaticMSI are located in Europe.
Shashi Singh, eSports manager of HoN had this to say about the partnership. "We're excited to have Heroes of Newerth in the North American Star League for Season 2 and beyond. The goals that they have and the direction that they would like to go in is similar to the goals that we have and the direction we want to go in for HoN eSports as a whole, making this quite the perfect fit. This partnership is further evidence of the value that Heroes of Newerth has as an eSports title and will consistently showcase the very best that this scene has to offer."
On top of that, professional StarCraft 2 players and personalities constantly came to the Heroes of Newerth booth to do autograph signings and photographs for fans, including the casting archon Tastosis, Day[9], Sen, and more.
