-- "Launch" - I continually see it mentioned in the forums - "the game shouldn't be 'released' or 'launched' before it's ready." Understand that this is not a retail product, so our approach to "launch" is much different than any other game we've released. The fundamental thing to understand here, and the difference betwen QUAKE LIVE as a web project and what would be QUAKE LIVE as a retail game, is that development will be continual. Rather than compare QUAKE LIVE to a retail launch, a better analogy would be something like a Google tool. Now most of those stay in beta for a couple of years (which we obviously won't), but the idea is that we'll grow from where we are now into a very large closed beta, and then into an open beta, and then just drop the "beta" tag. But even after that beta tag has been dropped, we will continue to add to the product - content, site features, events, etc. There won't be a "launch" day when we flip the switch and walk away.
