Thread to practise English (Part Two)

#538 ,A nigga stolen your money in the gym? (XDD)

Spybreak

#537 I'm quite certain he means he's been living in the Netherlands for 20 years. He mentions he is north-american, so he can't really be dutch.

It could go either way, but seeing how he said he's north-american, it's more likely he means what I said. In fact, if he wanted to say he was 20 years old, he should have said "north-american, 20 years old dutch resident". The "old" would specify he's talking about his own age and not the amount of time he's been living there.

Rafyelzz

No #542,i think u're wrong. read again what i wrote in #540. Resident is the name and 20-year-old is the adjetive. So he's a 20-year-old dutch resident, from north america.

I'm pretty sure that 20 years old is the answer for how old are you. If he's answering with an answer of this kind, its because he's using the age as adjetive telling how old is he. In the other case, he had to say: i'm dutch resident for 20 years.

PiTaGoRaS

Thanks Spy, that's what I thought as well and makes more sense for a guy advertising a shared flat.

Also by "non-single" he means married? living with his girlfriend?

_

#544, I think it means he is homo xD

Rafyelzz

#544 precisely if he's sharing a flat dont you think he should be a young guy?

Spybreak

#543 As I said, it could go either way, and seeing how Pita has specified it's an ad for a flat share, it now makes a lot more sense for him to be 20 years old. He still could have worded it better if he's really saying he's 20 years old. The "20 year dutch resident" is confusing.

I would still ask for clarification.

Non-single means he's either married or has a girlfriend. Probably the latter.

PiTaGoRaS

I don't know why but sounds to me more like he's an older guy. Guess I'll have to ask :)
